China Proposes Export Limits on 40 Advanced Technologies

WHAT CHINA PROPOSED

On Oct. 16, China's commerce and science ministries published a draft list of 40 technologies to ban or restrict from export, the AP reports.

AI AND CHIPS

Twenty-three are AI technologies. Models with 2 trillion or more parameters could be restricted, and some chip design technologies are listed.

NOT FINAL YET

Access to AI services through apps and websites would be excluded, reports say. Public comment is open until Nov. 15, so the rules could change.
